Light projection mapped to a traditional Chinese ceremony. The complex rituals surrounding the tea ceremony are deeply rooted in cooperation with nature. Human actions within tea-gathering, tea-processing, and tea-serving seek to reveal the essence of the Camellia leaf in the best ways possible, making this tradition a unique example of a human and non-human feedback system. The amplification of an old Zen practice with new media and materials enhances the notions of wiredness and interconnectedness within the tea serving practice. The elements of Nature in Chinese philosophy such as water, fire, earth, wood and metal, get their reactualization in the TEA MEDIA performance. Yet the real complexity of things is not ours to fully understand as we admire its beautiful reflections getting cast to our minds. It is the process of refining our receptiveness that fuels artistic and everyday practice.
